Hi Guys, great podcast, to think that this is 'work' for you, you always have a lot of fun. Thanks so much for answering my question, very helpful to hear your views on camera body lifespan etc... Also very pleased you had fun with the 'cocked up' part of the question and that you now know what that means. Had me and a few other guys here rolling on floor laughing!

In response to your main section I also prefer to take too much gear than to little. I have a ThinkTank roller bag and small rucksack and the ThinkTank has almost silent rollers. It survived being hauled around Brussles last week on all those cobbled streets and still no problems. (It also got used as a target in Bert's sunbounce reflector competition and survived that too!). But on a serious note it does allow heavy gear to be hauled around with little or no effort and looks just like any other ordinary roller bag.

Anyway big thumbs up to the podcasts ... keep em coming guys!

Cheers, Rob.

Great to hear another podcast! always look forward to it!
little comment on the Packing light vs heavy.
Even tho i am not a commerical/professional photographer.
sometimes i do get call on by friends to help shoot this party or that event, and I enjoy doing that because i can gain some experience from those.
and just last week, one of my friend's friend's store is having a 5 yr anniversary. so i practically brought my usual gears with me (5DM2, 24-70mm. 50/1.4, few flashes, and triggers....) except one lens.. the 70-200 2.8... Before i go.. i thought it is a store, i don't need the long range telephoto lens in that... but through out the night, i keep regreting that i should've brought my 70-200 with me, because I want to get candid shots without disrupting guest's conversations. I see ALOT of candid shots opportunities that night, and the best i can do is shot at 70mm, and counting on the big pixel count on the sensor so i can crop it afterward... (however you loose the nice bokeh and DOF when you do that, most viewer won't notice it, but i do notice that myself...)

but at the same time, there was a few time that i pack all my gear with me and end up didn't even switch lenses. so picking what to pack is an art i think!

especially when it comes to personal trip. especially in china, travelling in personal cars is not always possible, so often i dont' have the luxury to keep the extra gear in the trunk. and since it also often on foot or taking crazily packed train, it's always a good idea to pack very light. and honestly.. i really suck at packing/picking my gear before i head out... good to know that it is a valid concern!

anyway... just figure would share some experience.
and always good to see/hear a new podcast from u guys!

cheers!

PS: parrot and elephant seal? what the!?

You should by a Nikon to have configurable Auto-ISO. There you can set the slowest shutter speed before ISO increases. But neverthelesss I neither use it :-)
